RABBI
DR. IVAN LERNER
Dr. Lerner, a former principal and educational
superintendent is the Rabbi Emeritus of the
600-family Claremont Hebrew Congregation in Cape
Town. He is a Past Chairman of the South African
Rabbinical Association. Dr. Lerner's background
includes specialties in rabbinics, psychology and
education . He has written numerous articles on
family issues, parenting, communication and conflict
resolution. Dr. Lerner became a household name in
Australia through his radio appearances and advice
columns which were nationally syndicated through the
Australian Jewish News. His inspirational television
appearances in South Africa drew large and loyal
audiences. Since 2002 Rabbi Dr Lerner has traveled
bimonthly to London where he serves as a Senior
Lecturer at the Jewish Learning Exchange. Most
recently Rabbi Lerner has lectured in Paris,
Antwerp, Frankfurt, and Munich.
As a licensed psychologist Dr. Lerner is often
called upon to discuss themes which require a
blending of his spiritual, educational and
psychological background. Currently, he and his wife
Arleeta, also a former school principal, reside in
suburban Washington, D.C. where he is a consultant
to schools, synagogues, and businesses in the USA
and overseas.
ERICA
BROWN
DR. ERICA BROWN is the
Director for Adult Education at The Partnership for
Jewish Life and Learning and consults for The Jewish
Federation of Greater Washington. Erica is the
author of the book, Inspired Jewish Leadership, a
National Jewish Book Award finalist and Spiritual
Boredom, and co-author of The Case for Jewish
Peoplehood (all through Jewish Lights).
She was a Jerusalem Fellow, is a faculty member of
the Wexner Foundation, an Avi Chai Fellow, winner of
the Ted Farber Professional Excellence Award, and
the recipient of the 2009 Covenant Award for her
work in education.
Erica has served as an adjunct professor at American
University and George Washington University. She
lectures widely on subjects of Jewish interest and
leadership, in addition to extensive writing in
journals of education and Jewish studies and writes
a weekly internet essay called “Weekly Jewish
Wisdom” (www.pjll.org) that also appears on the
Newsweek/Washington Post’s “On Faith” website. She
resides with her husband and four children in Silver
Spring, Maryland.
DR.
JEREMY BROWN
Dr. Jeremy Brown lectures especially on the nexus
between halachah and medicine. He is the research
director for emergency medicine at George Washington
University.
Dr. Brown is the former editor of Jewish Medical
Update and is widely published in medical
journals. He co-edited the book, Venous
Thromboembolic Emergencies and is currently
completing a textbook on emergency medicine for
Oxford University Press. |
